| About our Saddles
We at Allegany Mountain Trail Saddles are horsemen, just like you. We
understand that a saddle is a piece of equipment that is meant to be used.
We also understand that you have an investment in your tack that needs
to have a return in the value you receive. Saddles can be functional and
also a bit of a work of art.
Can you remember when you were a child and you went into the tack store
and ran your hands over the leather of the saddle that you would have loved
to own? We want the saddle you purchase from Allegany Mountain Trail Saddles
to be a prized possession, something you can use with pride.
Our saddles are built by an amazing young Amish craftsman, who takes
great pride in his work. Allegany Mountain Trail Saddles are built one
at a time. Each saddle is handcrafted, no production lines here. The top
of the line leather is hand picked from “Wicket & Craig” drum dyed
leather. Our brass and stainless hardware is of the highest quality. Each
component that will be part of your saddle is chosen to provide years of
use. Since all saddles are built one at a time and by hand we can accommodate
the tallest of riders or the shortest rider - just ask. We are happy to
personalize your saddle to your specs, something that is hard to do with
today's big production lines. Your saddle becomes just as personnel to
us as it does to you.
About our Accessories
Of course you will need other items, to ride your horse! We recommend
that you purchase additional tack – bridles, breast collars etc. when you
purchase your saddle. It is really very simple – leather is a live breathing
thing and the colors and textures are going to fluctuate from one lot to
another. If you want the best match you need to have the leather for your
accessories come from the same lot if possible.
Completing the outfit by adding on the other accessories will of course
increase your investment. But as any woman will tell you, when you buy
a new dress you do not wear it with the old scruffy shoes! The additional
investment will be well worth it when you have the satisfaction of knowing
you have not only “completed your horse’s outfit” but made sure all your
tack is of sturdy construction to enable you to enjoy many hours of safe
riding!
